We built Waxd to be a clean, honest music discovery experience. We collect only what we need to run the app. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't share your information with third parties beyond what's needed to operate the service.

We collect information you provide directly when you create an account and use the app:

We do not collect location data, payment information, contacts, browsing history, or any data unrelated to using Waxd.
All data is collected directly from you through your use of the app — during account registration and through your in-app interactions (listening, reacting, following, submitting tracks). No data is collected passively in the background when the app is not in use.
Your data is used solely to operate and improve Waxd:
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to operating Waxd.

No other third-party services, analytics SDKs, or advertising networks are integrated into Waxd at this time.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers. The only sharing that occurs is:
Waxd does not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework and does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. We do not build advertising profiles.
We retain your account and activity data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data (email, display name, username, avatar, reactions, XP, follows) is deleted from our database within 30 days. Anonymized aggregate statistics (e.g., a track's total reaction count) may be retained after account deletion.
You can delete your account at any time from within the app by navigating to Profile → Settings → Delete Account. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you are unable to access the app, you may request deletion by emailing hello@waxd.io from the address associated with your account.

Waxd is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at hello@waxd.io and we will delete the account promptly.
We take reasonable steps to protect your data. Waxd uses HTTPS for all data transmission, and our backend (Supabase) employs Row Level Security policies so users can only access their own data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we are committed to using industry-standard protections.
Waxd may request permission to send you push notifications for streak reminders, level-ups, and weekly activity summaries. Notifications are sent only if you explicitly grant permission. You can revoke notification permission at any time in your device's Settings app under Waxd.
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may also notify you within the app. Continued use of Waxd after a policy update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
